An Ode to My Booties

With the warmer weather and Easter approaching, it's about time to retire my winter shoes. These babies helped me through my first Wisconsin winter and I will be forever grateful for their style, comfort, and functionality. Best $20 I ever spent at Payless (I know, what a steal)!

Unfortunately, wearing the same shoes almost every day for 5 months causes a lot of wear and tear. I tore my cute booties up, to the point where it wouldn't make any sense to save them for next winter. Observe...

I can no longer find these shoes anywhere :( My only hope is that Payless (or somewhere) will bring them back later this year so I can stock up and have enough pairs to last me for a few more years. I'll keep you posted so you can buy some too!

Breakfast Conversations

Daniel and I sometimes have odd breakfast conversations because we're still half-asleep. Here's today's gem...

"If I went into obstetrics and delivered babies and listened to women and babies scream all day, it would be super chill when I got home because it'd be so quiet. You could be totally pissed at me and I'd think, She's in the best mood ever!"

Thus is the life of a medical student and his wife.

Yay service!

Lately, Daniel and I have been praying for a handful of things on a daily basis...

1) A little Lindsay
2) Mark and his companion and investigators
3) More missionary opportunities
4) More service opportunities
5) A good night's sleep or a productive day, depending on what time of day it is

We had the Sisters over for dinner recently and my phone rang while we were eating. I was just going to let it go, but I felt like I should answer it. So I went to the bedroom and had a nice chat with a young mother in the ward who doesn't know us personally but asked if we would babysit her kids on Friday while she and her husband go out to dinner with Fred (landlord extraordinaire) to celebrate the Match. I was touched by this woman's trust in us and her ability to perceive promptings from the Spirit (I honestly can't think of any other reason why she would call us). I also like that Daniel and I are starting to get a reputation as awesome babysitters :) Yay service!

In other news, it was recently announced that Daniel's mission is being split. Nevada will soon house the Las Vegas, Las Vegas West, and Reno missions. The state was split pretty much down the middle, with the Strip roughly the border between the Vegas and Vegas West sides. You can read more (and see the new map) here. The Reno mission looks ginormous, but really the only stuff that's up there is Reno and Carson City. I think it's funny that the Vegas mission covers more of Arizona and California than it does Nevada, but it's great that there's enough work that the areas need to be split! Yay missionaries and service!

Fun story: While we were dating, Daniel and I made a promise that if I say Nuh-vad-uh (instead of Ne-vah-da), he'll say App-uh-latch-in (instead of App-uh-lay-shin). So far, so good

Mounting Madness

You guys.

It's March.

It's basketball season.

Tomorrow, March Madness officially begins.

We haven't really been following college ball as much as we'd like (or any sports at all, really) lately, but watching some of the tournament games today got me really excited. I LOVE watching basketball and I love filling out my bracket. And since all the games will be streamed live online, I'll be able to watch (or at least listen) while I work!

And no offense to this year's team, but I'm really glad Daniel and I were able to finish our time at BYU with the Year of the Jimmer. I don't think we'll ever have a better collection of sports experiences than watching our boys tear it up game after game!

Out of the mouths of babes

Unless something else wows me, I think I'm gonna stick with anesthesiology.
-Daniel

This statement makes me cautiously happy. Daniel's just a baby by med school standards, so while there's no guarantee he'll stick with anesthesiology in the long run, I like that he's already realizing what he is and is not passionate about. He's got exams this week and then spring break, so there will be a lot of shadowing during that time to (hopefully) continue solidifying his decision. If nothing else, at least I can spell anesthesiology now!

In other news, I have officially taken control of my fertility (or lack thereof). I've had several blood tests and two types of ultrasounds and everything's come back pretty much normal, so I did my first round of Clomid last week. Now we'll have to wait and see what happens next. I know there are no promises, but I'm glad we're starting to get to the bottom of things. I will say that I'm very impressed with my doctor here, she understands that Daniel and I mean business and she takes good care of us, as opposed to my Provo doctor who just wanted to prescribe more birth control and let things work out on their own. I don't know if that's the Happy Valley mentality or just the BYU health plan doctors, but I'm glad I've found a health care provider who listens and wants to really help us get started with this new, exciting phase of life!

PS: Our dream house sold :( Maybe it'll be on the market again in a few years when we're ready to settle down...
