What's In A Name?

My maiden name is Yankey. Growing up, I never had any trouble with people distinguishing between my first and last name. These days though, it's not uncommon for me to get e-mails like this...

or

I get it, my first and last name are two first names. But it's frustrating to see people make dumb mistakes like that, especially when my e-mail signature looks like this...

Hello! My name is in big bold letters! Unfortunately, I think this is something that I'm going to have to deal with for a long time. Hopefully our daughters marry guys with obvious last names!

On an unrelated note, Daniel's doctor suggested that he start taking a daily multivitamin to make sure he's getting the right nutrients. I've been taking a multivitamin for months, and we usually take them together at dinner (precious, I know). Daniel took his this morning because we're going out for dinner tonight, and a little while ago on Gchat (Gmail chat? You know what I mean) he asked: did i take my pill this morning?

I thought the wording was perfect. I'm pretty sure I asked the same thing a few times when I was on birth control!

  1. Ha ha. This is funny! I certainly never get my last name confused with my first! If someone thought my first name was Pugh we'd have some big problems! I am sorry to see that happen a lot though, very frustrating though!

I'm excited you guys are coming to dinner tonight!! See you in a few :)

  2. I get the same thing too. When someone asks for my last name and I say Clare they will be like no what's your last name :P.

  3. That's really funny. I went to school with a girl whose name was Lisa Marie. We knew eachother since kindergarten, but it took me til 8th grade to realize that Marie was her last name. Thought it was just a cute 2-word first name!
