Weekly wrap up

After the excitement of last week, we all enjoyed a calm week!

On Monday night, Daniel and I watched The Saratov Approach on Netflix. I liked it, but I'm so glad Matthew isn't close to mission age!

On Tuesday, Matthew and I went to the grocery store. Matthew's favorite part was playing with the bags as I put the food away.

At the gym on Wednesday, the child care director offered me a staff (paid) position since there are several spots opening up in a few months. I accepted but asked that I be moved to the "big kid" area instead of being on baby duty. I haven't heard back from the director, but I hope it works out!

Also on Wednesday, we went to Yo Mama for lunch with friends because it was Weightless Wednesday - any size cup with any toppings and it was only $3! A fun way to spoil dinner and Daniel was able to stop by for a bit too!

In the afternoon, we watched Jaron and Shelly's cute baby, Jaden. This picture is a good reason why I need to be moved from the baby area at the gym day care, these poor kids are helpless against Matthew!

Thursday was a big day because Wisconsin played UNC in the Sweet 16. We had dinner in front of the the TV and Matthew was a buffer.

Wisconsin pulled out the win, but it was close for most of the game!

On Friday we had our friends, Chris and Nicole, over for dinner. Daniel baked salmon and asparagus and we had salad and bread too. Matthew was a great eater and then he decided to projectile vomit in the kitchen, trapping Chris and Nicole on one side of the room. I almost died of embarrassment. Matthew was totally fine (our guess is he ate too much) and Chris and Nicole were really good at pretending it wasn't a big deal, but it looks like it might be awhile before they come back over.

This weekend has been nice, except Matthew had a bit of a fever yesterday. He was extra snuggly though, so it wasn't all bad. Tomorrow Matthew and I are going to Utah to show Jillian around BYU! I'm excited to go back!

Something I love right now: Summerfest
Daniel and I have seen Cake and Imagine Dragons at Summerfest and this year's lineup looks awesome! Especially since this guy will be there...

Hello, Mr. McMahon!

If you want to visit, we have a third bedroom and a cute kid!

Weekly wrap up: Match edition

On Monday, Daniel received this glorious e-mail...

And there was much rejoicing!

On Friday, Daniel opened this glorious envelope...

And there was even more rejoicing!

But let me back up...

I tried to stay busy this week to help the time pass! On Tuesday I hosted a St. Patrick's brunch bunch, it was a good time with good friends and good food!

The kids LOVED the balloons!

On Thursday we went to story time at the Elm Grove library and story time at the Wisconsin Humane Society, we will definitely go back to both!

On Friday the mini Stroller Brigade started the day with donuts from Cranky Al's. I was hoping for some sort of distraction in the morning and this was perfect! My stomach was going crazy with stress/worry/excitement and I shouldn't have had a donut, but it was a s'mores one and it was delicious and I only regretted it a little.

Doesn't that look amazing?!

After Cranky's, we got ready to go, dropped Matthew off downstairs at Cassi's, and headed to school. Each school has its own Match Day tradition; at MCW your envelope is placed in a raffle drum and when your name is called, you go get it. Everyone contributes a dollar and the last person called gets the money. Daniel was about 10 from the end, the waiting was torture. We also learned there are a LOT of guys named Daniel in this class! Finally, Daniel's name was called...

The results

Another year in Milwaukee and then 4 YEARS IN CHAPEL HILL! It still hasn't really sunk in that I'm going home but I think I'll get there! This is pretty much the perfect set up for us - we can stay in our awesome apartment with our awesome friends and awesome landlord and save up money for a down payment on a house and we only have to move once. The only bummer is that most of our friends are moving in May/June and we'll stay here, but other than that everything is wonderful! The program at St. Luke's is fantastic and of course we love UNC, Daniel is going to have a great residency!

Fred and Kathy (the most wonderful people we have ever met) took those who are graduating/leaving Milwaukee out to dinner on Friday night, we went to a steakhouse downtown called Carnevor. The food was great, the company was great, and it was an amazing way to end an amazing day!

Our food was as delicious as it looked

Needless to say, this week was pretty great! We're looking forward to the new adventures that await us!

Weekly wrap up: Distracted edition

I didn't blog last week because we were all stricken with a terrible stomach bug. Poor Matthew got hit with that ear infection and then spent the better part of a week suffering from bouts of vomiting and diarrhea. Daniel and I woke up last Sunday feeling awful and within an hour I was begging my mom to come and take care of us for a few days. Luckily we felt better by that afternoon and even luckier, Matthew was such a champ while we were sick. We took naps and drank a lot to replenish the liquids we lost and we were all back to normal by Tuesday!
-
Here are a few other things that happened over the last couple of weeks...

Matthew got promoted to a "big boy" seat. He likes it a lot!

I have an 11-month-old, whaaat?!

My brother got his wisdom teeth removed, my mom interviewed him afterwards

The weather was AMAZING on Friday and Daniel got home early, so we went to the park!
-
I have been freaking out for the last few weeks because Match Week starts tomorrow (to learn about the Match, read this). Tomorrow we found if Daniel matched and on Friday we find out where. Tomorrow is more important and Friday is more exciting. We could end up in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or stay here in Wisconsin. It's more than a little nerve wracking!

So please forgive the incredible randomness of this post. Hopefully the next one will be random because of how overjoyed I am at the Match results!

#DearMe

I was watching Good Morning America today and saw this segment about YouTube's celebration of International Women's Day, which is this Sunday, March 8. The #DearMe campaign is an "initiative to inspire and empower young girls everywhere. We all know that growing up is tough. But if you could go back in time, what wisdom would you share with your teenage self?" I think this is a cool idea and decided to write my own #DearMe letter. Watch the video and then read what I wish Teenage Jenn knew.

Dear Jenn,

You are beautiful. You will question it often, but it will always be true.

God knows you and will help you through your trials. He won't give you anything you can't conquer!

Enjoy the little moments at home. The way you, Jordan, Michelle, and Rachael sing Miley Cyrus in the car on the way to school. Friday nights at Wrightsville Beach. A burger from Kohl's. Editing your spreads for the yearbook. Cheering on Jakey at football games. Working for Dr. Browning. El Cerro chips and salsa. Movies at Mayfaire. The collection of Vitaminwater bottles in the back of Vicki. Every day you're not home, you'll miss those things a little more.

Your college experience will be amazing. You will stand in a hotel parking lot in Salt Lake City and marvel at your sense of belonging in Utah, but you won't understand why. In a couple weeks you'll know. *Hint - his name is Daniel*

You are going to do incredible things.

Love,
Future Jenn

PS: Now it's your turn! Write a #DearMe post or make a video. I can't wait to see what you have to say!
